Did you know?
We have been doing great overall reducing our water use in San Diego. We are however on a current upward trend (13.22%) according to the City of San Diego’s most recent published numbers.
Average August 2016 gallons per person per day – 73.63
The same month in 2015 was 66.42
Month over month in 2016 we are running higher than 2015, so we have a little work to do.
What strategies are you using to keep your water use down?
Here are a few quick ideas:
- Aerators on your faucets are an easy and inexpensive option available at any hardware or home improvement store. you can achieve .5 gpm for a few dollars investment.
- Landscape irrigation – check your timers, add a timer, install a drip system. All very inexpensive and easy to do.
- Modified showers – turn the shower off when lathering soap, shampooing, etc. Sounds tough but not bad once you get used to it!
